The 1913 college football season witnessed Harvard going undefeated en route to a national title. Presented is a lengthy 34 crimson red pennant from the 1913 season. Although no university is indicated, this antique fabric very well could be associated with the Harvard squad of that year. This display piece is off-grade with a quartet of moderately sized holes across the body and tip. The artifact is lightly soiled, and a portion of the tip appears to have been removed. However, the off-white lettering is still intact, and the image of a helmetless football player is clean and pronounced. The attached tassels reveal a pair of pinholes but does not distract from the pleasing visual appeal. A profound relic from the rough and tumble beginnings of collegiate football.
