Ideal for the Washington-centric collector, offered is a pair of game-used football jerseys from the 1980s. The first part of the lot is a 1989 Washington Redskins home “#21” Earnest Byner jersey. The size ‘40’ mesh uniform was produced by Russell Athletic, which was used by the Redskins for a few years before changing to Starter in 1990. Byner joined the Redskins in 1989, dating it to this season. The nameplate on the reverse has been signed by Byner in black sharpie (“7”) with a 21 inscription. Displaying minimal wear and the “#21,” which will certainly be officially, or unofficially, retired by the Redskins before the next NFL campaign, this burgundy and gold Byner gamer will anchor any ‘Skins collection. The second piece of the lot is a 1983-84 Washington Federals Joel Patten “#69” home jersey. The mesh uniform is produced by Russell Athletic with size ‘52’ tagging and ample wear on the sleeve trim, though it is otherwise clean. Patten, a Duke graduate, was a tackle who participated in the USFL in each of its three seasons playing an additional seven years in the NFL. Accompanying the Patten jersey are a pair of game-used Washington Federals wristbands from Patten, each with a 69 personalization on the team insignia. An official sideline cap, presumably worn by Patten, is also included. A great pair of gamers that any die-hard Washington fan will easily find space for.
