Presented is a complete twelve-page 1889 A35 Goodwin and Co. Baseball album originally offered to baseball-savvy smokers who needed to huff and puff seventy-five packs in order to lay claim on this attractive premium. This album contains round, lithographed 8-1/4" cardboard sheets that display ads for Old Judge and Dog’s Head cigarettes, as well as color renditions of the 1888 New York Giants champions and other stars of the time. Early legends of the game such as Cap Anson, “King” Kelly, Charles Comiskey and John Ward are featured in the album. The album is kept together with the original tassel cord, but a new brass clasp has been added to the binding hole. The front and back covers show some paper chipping and creasing and grade (VG). The inner color pages present very nicely and grade (EX-MT) with some slight paper aging along the outer borders and moderate staining on the reverses. This scarce artifact would make a great addition to any collection and fortunately does not require one to be a heavy smoker to obtain this awesome premium.
