Following the New York Yankees demise in the 1926 World Series, slugger Babe Ruth embarked on a highly profitable nationwide barnstorming tour. From coast to coast, “The Bambino” attracted legions of adoring fans to his exhibition contests. Presented is a 1926 signed and dated Babe Ruth photograph. The approximately 7-3/4 x 9-3/4 black-and-white picture depicting Ruth (d.1948) shaking hands with W.H. Searing, a two-time Seattle, Washington Police Chief. The photograph was taken by L.R. Dale whose studio (as indicated on a reverse back stamp) was located at the Cobb Building in Seattle. On the bottom left portion of the image, Ruth inscribes To My Friend L.R. Dale From Babe Ruth Nov 24 1926 in a period fountain pen. The well-defined signature looks terrific and grades in the (“7-8”) range. The picture itself exhibits only negligible surface wear, while the clean back reveals only a slight pencil marking on the upper left corner. This signed and dated photograph of the larger-than-life Ruth is a premier addition to any advanced autograph gathering. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentications.
