Description

We have added information to this description from the printed catalog

Having served forty-three years in the Cardinals organization and farm system in various capacities, Harrison Wickel is best known for converting Stan Musial from a pitcher into a hitter and outfielder while managing the prodigy in 1939. Presented is a personal collection of keepsakes from his tenure with the St. Louis franchise. The highlight of this lot is a full 1940s Cardinal road uniform that includes a size 40 jersey, size 34 pants, and blue stockings. All of the pieces show light use and have been preserved very well. Other items in this lot include (2) Musial signed items, 1967-68 World Series pins, and (2) of Wickel’s custom St. Louis Cardinals Christmas cards. Also included is an original 1937-1938 black and white 2-1/2 x 3" photograph of Musial pitching for his Williamson, West Virginia rookie league team. The photo contains significant gloss cracking, creasing and writing on the reverse. This lot is accompanied by an auction LOA from James Spence Authentications.
